Can't play backup game (Madden 11)

I have backed up 3 different games and all will play except Madden 11. Is there some kind of update required preventing me from playing the game? The other 2 I backed up were ncaa 11 & the sports champion game that came with my ps3. I can play both games from the ps3 hd without having a game in the system. I can't play madden 11 at all (with or without a game in the system). It shows up on the screen but when I start game I get "An error occurred during the start operation. (80010017)".
Update- I deleted the backup and copied it again and it works now, so I guess something happened first time I dumped but works fine now.

I'm having the same problems with Madden 11 now. I may have to re-rip the game again myself. I just want to make sure it's not anything to do with payload problems or corrupted files. I can't get it work with several hex file and both Hermes and PL3. No backup manager will work either. Geez!

No! I just now tried re-doing it but still won't get past the screen saying "NOW LOADING". I tried ripping it to the HDD and also tried FTP transfer with no success in getting the game to get past that screen.

FTP is giving all kinds of problems transferring games. From PC I've tried both FileZilla and FlashFXP but when my game transfers get towards the end I get disconnected.

From PS3 I've tried the standard "FTP Server". I've tried the built-in FTP server with Gaia Manager. I've tried the MultiMAN background running server. None of them will work. None of the combinations will work. The FTP problem not only applies to game transfers, it also can just be viewing the HDD contents in general from PC too.

I keep getting disconnected no matter what I try. I'm using a router but don't have anything to block my connection to cause it to disconnect/timeout. Once I get the timeout/disconnect then it locks up my PS3. This is getting ridiculous!

Sorry to hear that. I'm not knowledgeable about that ftp/gaia stuff cause I just rent games and rip them to the hdd and delete them when I beat them. Have you tried renting and ripping it that way? I don't play madden or any sports games really my brother does and he says madden 11 isn't all that great. He's been playing ncaa 11 instead so I don't think you're missing much.

Why would I need to rent the game when I already have it. I just can't get this game backup to work from HDD. I'm not the only one going by other threads on here and elsewhere.

The FTP thing is really bothering me as well. I just can't stay connected for any amount of time with no combination of programs. I do know FlashFXP is a really good FTP program. FileZilla isn't very good. I don't know about all these FTP programs from PS3.

It seems to me they have bugs in them or something. I've just not seen a lot of reports of having problems with the FTP programs from PS3. I don't know whats going on but I'm gonna test out hooking straight up to the PC instead of using a router.

This may help with the FTP but doesn't help with Madden 11 and getting it working. MLB 10 The Show is another game that's giving me the same problems from internal HDD. It will load but freeze as well.

All of my other games are working just fine from HDD.
