Cant install pkg files....

I just got my ps3Key, updated it to the latest software, put it in the ps3 and follow process to jailbreak and in the game menu I have the install packages and whatever the other option that appears. I load the pkg files on a fat32 stick and plug it into the ps3 and go to install packages and get nothing. I've put it in the root of the stick, in the Game folder, GAME folder and nothing seems to work. I even tried it on my external HD i've been using for a while and cant bring up any pkg to install.....any ideas? I was reading that there was fakes out there for these and am unsure if I got one. I wouldnt think it would put me in jailbreak mode if it was a fake though.

is your usb drive formatted to fat32 ?

yeah, i've been using the external HD for a while now for movies and such, its recognized by my ps3......for some reason the 2gb thumb drive isnt even though i formatted it in fat32 also but i cant seem to bring up a pkg file on either

Have you tried installing the packages via your other HD? Keep them in the root, not in any folders. Your positive you have v4 FW for the PS3Key? Should work with v3 tbh but v4 is the latest. What are you trying to install?

If you are trying to update games you can do them from the games themselves by downloading the updates via internet. But i'm guessing you are trying to install Open Manager or so?

EDIT: Oh and also did you get a serial/verification number with your product? If you didn't, you'll need to request one from the company you got it from. If they don't have it, then thats a bit fishy

I have tried the HD but Ill give it a go again tonight. Im pretty sure i put them in the root also. Im trying to load on a backup manager and FTP server. I did get serials with it and went to the website and entered them, they are valid but ill double check that I didnt enter it wrong. I also downloaded v4 FW for it and loaded it multiple times thinking it may have been that but I can give v3 FW a try also. I used the loader they created, plugged the key in 3 times until both lights lit up and it appeared on the loader so i selected the file and it updated it. Im running out of ideas and I dont think i would be to where im at if it was a fake would I? Ive read about them online and theres pictures, the ps3Key i recieved doesnt have the blue cap on end, its a silver key that twists out from a cover which ive seen on a website posted as fake......but i did get valid serials and it shows up on my xmb when i do the jailbreak steps on my ps3 so who knows.

A quick but possibly stupid suggestion. Sometimes when I have PKG files on my USB Stick, and click on *Install Package Files it doesn't list anything. Then I push Circle or Left on the D-pad, push X again on *Install Package Files and there they are. It's weird. Also sometimes I see duplicates of the same package. For instance if I have Open Manager and blackb0x on there, 2 files, I'll see 2 of each PKG. They all work though, installed and everything.

So it seems stupid, but if you haven't tried it already, enter the Install Package menu, back out, and enter it again.

got it to work, thanks for the help. turns out i never put them in the root of my ext HD like i had thought, did it on the thumb drive and it didnt work. either way i now have flex manager and blackbox ftp server running so all is good.
