Another Can't Update PS3Key
Well, I have read about everything I can on the PS3Key not updating... and I seem to be having similar issues now... except none of the fixes work for me.
Just got my ps3key, verified the serial on the website, downloaded the updater 1.1 and the Atmel 4.0 firmware.
I plug the key in and get a red light as expected. I unplug and replug three times and it turns blue, just as expected... but Windows (7 Ultimate, 64-bit) does not do anything with it (never tries to install drivers or anything). It should at least show as a flash drive, right? I don't see it in device manager or in my computer. Also, I am running the updater 1.1 in compatability mode for XP SP2 with run as administrator set... and the update button never becomes enabled...
Any ideas? I have made the unit turn blue a bunch of times on serveral different USB ports.
Thanks a lot!!!
Try ubuntu if you have available
I was struggling with win 7 for 3 days.
Noticed after i added my serial on the PS3 key website mine was silabs based so drag and drop should work but even that didn't work.
Then i was thinking lets try in ubuntu (dual boot laptop).
Mounted the usb stick (nicely recognized as ps3 key in dmesg)
did a simple cp firmware.bin /media/mountpointusbstik
and volia it worked.
This tells me it has to do with admin or other privileges within windows 7.
So if you have a friend or maybe yourself with ubuntu installed that will work but again only for the silabs based sticks.
Hope youll find a way..
