I've spent the better part of my night looking into Save game mods for White knight Chronicles 2. I have a few questions if someone would be kind enough to answer!
First; Is it at all possible to use a modded save with a out of the box PS3 (Not modded in any way)?
Second: What would said person need to mod the save itself? Would the best option just to post it up here?
That's it for my questions. Thank you to anyone who finds themselves able to answer these for me. I understand that this must be endlessly annoying.
Edit: My game is the NA version, if that's relevant.

Save modding is not something easily accomplished but can be done with a hex editor even on official PS3 systems. It's not something to attempt if you're not familiar with hex values and their conversions. A lot of newer games have added encryption and checksums to prevent this. The only way to know for sure would be to backup your original save to a safe location and to try editing something simple like your money because you'll have a known value. Let's say you have 9999 gold. The value you'd look for is 27 0F. You'd change that to FF FF which would give you 65535 in gold. You have to figure out what the max limit is. Some will have a 65535 limit because of how the data is stored (2 entries as listed above). Some will have a higher limit but will use more entries in the save file. Some saves will also try to fool you by swapping the numbers (27 0F becomes 0F 27). There are several bit conversion tools out there to help you figure the numbering system. You could try looking for someone else's save game and load it on your console after using a program called ps3saveunlocker. That would probably be the easiest free solution. There are also "Cheat discs" that are basically modded save files. You'd just have to find one that supports WKC2

Well I'm not really looking to achieve anything over the top. My goal was to get some money in WKC 2. Though I have to say the Hex editing itself looks pretty intimidating. I'm still working out how to get my saves onto my PC.
Thank you for your response!

It can be intimidating looking at a bunch of numbers especially when you throw in A-F as numbers. They use a base 16 which means you have 0-9 then A-F being 10-15 and the cycle repeats so the higher the number you get to the harder it is to figure out without a conversion calculator. Plus if you manage to find the value and change it, then that game probably has a checksum or the ps3 will check the date modified and read it as corrupted. There's really a lot that goes in to it. Sorry I didn't have an easy answer for you

No worries, I didn't think this was going to be an instant win kind of deal. My main issue is, that I'm slightly worried that the only way I could achieve this with my current skill-set would be to high jack someone else's save. The idea of playing as someone else's avatar doesn't really appeal to me. (Yes, I'm nitpicking about that), What would you recommend as my best course of action here to be?

Can't you change your appearance in game at some point. Could've swore you could do it in the first one. Been a while since I played it. I tell you what. Save a game and send it to me in a zip file and I'll take a look and see if it can be modified at all with a hex editor. You'll need to also send me exactly how much money you have. Try to get it at least above 255 gold/cash to make it easier to find. I don't think you can post links yet and I can't send you a private message. I'm gonna send you a friend request to see if that will let me send you my email address to send it to. I don't want it public. Check your account settings and make sure you can receive private messages

I don't even see the option about Private messaging. So either it's disabled by default because I'm still new, or I'm an idiot. My Email is Z_pecsenye (At) hotmail (Dot) com. Feel free to fire me an email there, that way I'll have yours!

It's probably because you're new. I'll leave it up here temporarily, but let me know as soon as you have it so I can take it down

Sorry about that, I ended up being eight ways of asleep. Any chance you could repost it?

I figured that's what happened when I didn't hear back from you. Again - let me know when you have it so I can take it downR
