    Hi,

    I tried to install a couple of psn-games from a corrupt USB-Stick.

The problem now is that when i access the games menu I see the 3 corrupted icons among my other games and then the PS3 freezes.. So I cant use the regular "triangel"->remove option.

Where is the list of games stored?? Is there some xml-file somewhere thats indexes this stuff?

I of course removed the failed games from the "games" dir, but they still show up!

    Any ideas?

    You can try this:
I had a simular problem, it means that the hard drive is corrupt or is about to be corrupted. here's how to fix it.

    1) have the system off

    2) press and hold the power button until the system shuts itself off again

    3) press and hold the power button until you hear 2 rapid beeps (if it doesn't work so step 2 twice)

    4) connect the controller with USB and turn it on

    5) go down to option 3 (rebuild database)

    6) press X, it will reboot and it will tell you "the hard drive is corrupt" or something like that, proceed

    7) it should be done and your PS3 should work properly again

what this method does is find and fix file system problems, ones which would prevent your trophies from registering. it's also been known to fix some cases of bluray drives not working.
    Or check this out, too:
Your hard drive file format is corrupted. This has allready happened to me twice.

The first time while running Bayonetta without a disc, I had the same problem you had. Everytihg was spinning. Except the options menu. So I went, and re-updated the 3.41, which I was allready on. Then when I booted it back up, everything still spun, but only for about 10 second before the whole system froze. THE FIX? Take the hard drive out, put it in an usb enclosure, and reformat the drive to Fat32, then put back in the PS3 and reformat it again.

The second time, I come in to the living room to find my friend playing AC: Brotherhood. I thought to myself, "He is playing it without a disc, isn't he?" He was! As soon as I hit the PS button to go to the XMB, it froze. I did the same thing as before. Took it out and reformatted on PC, put in PS3 and reformatted.

If you don't have a usb enclosure, you can try this: How to access the PlayStation 3 Recovery Menu - PlayStation.com Forums

Good for you! I have tried everything to get my PS3 to copy files from a USB flash drive. I've tried all safe mode options but no luck.

I just discovered why _my_ ps3 sometimes installs pkg and sometimes throws me error.
I booted in jb mode, then removed the jb dongle and plugged the usb drive with the pkg.
Say bye bye to all those error installs

Well, I don't get any install errors with a jailbreak dongle still connected.
