PS2 save files to PS3?????
PS2 save files to PS3????? –

Hi all,
I have a splitting headache after googeling so much, and still Iam not any wiser
I trying to help out a friend with his PS2 game save file that he wants to transfer to a 60gb PS3. I thought it would be easy but o boy was I wrong. For the heck of me I dont get how to transfer it???
What I have been reading is that u need a Memory Card Adapter to transfer it from a PS2 memory card to PS3? Which I dont have. The thing is that I already have the save files on a usb-stick. Because my friend uses some kind of homebrew app called mcboot or some thing to play his backup games. He have some how transferred the save files from the PS2 memory card through the PS2s usb connection. But I dont know how to get it on to the PS3.
What I have read is that the PS3 only reads .psv save files, and the save files that I have is in a folder with 3 files in em (some raw form or some thing)??? What I dont get is why u can transfer the save files with a Memory Card Adapter to the ps3 but not whit a usb stick??? Its the same files????? But the PS3 does not see the save files when I connect the usb-stick to the PS3 ????
Some one plz explain to me the right way to get the save files on to the PS3. The game save file that Iam trying to get on to PS3 is PES 2009.
I have tried directories PS3/EXPORT/PSV and PS3/SAVEDATA non work,
any help is greatly appreciated.
Thx in advance

Hi mate, I have a ps2 memory card adapter so upload all the saves you need to transfer to megaupload and just post the download identifier(the numbers and letters before the last slash) and I'll post the vmc images for ya.

If You don't have bc PS3 with some kind bootcd and/or Memory Card Adaptor the only way is PS3 with CFW. You can write this saves into VMC (with ECC because XMB doesn't support non-ECC cards), paste under vmc dir on PS3 and rebuild db, then go to XMB and export save to signed PSV to dev_usb.
What I dont get is why u can transfer the save files with a Memory Card Adapter to the ps3 but not whit a usb stick???
Because some PS2 games using time stamp as a protection and FAT32 cannot handle all attributes from "PS2 MCFS". Also some games for PSX and PS2 use some characters in file names which FAT32 not support (i.e Tales of Eternia/Destiny 2 using symbols "/").
and I'll post the vmc images for ya
PSV it's not a VMC (virtual memory card) image but save container format like i.e (better ;d) PSU.
BTW: It's completly stupid that PSV must be signed to be work on (why Sony, why did You do this?
) I hope in future someone wise uncover how PS3 signed psv he and make a nice app for Win/Linux.
