Please help me. upgraded hdd. want to keep saved game files –

I upgraded my hdd, and i wanted to keep my saved game files. I tried the ps3's backup utility, but that caused some weird problem.. on my new hdd, i use the restore function, and all my save game files/psn games were restored.
the problem is that I can not activate my psn games, so i cant play them.
when i try to play the game, it tells me to activate the system. under account management, it says my system is already activated. so i try to deactive, and activate again... but when i try to activate, i get a 80029519 error.
so, I'm not able to play or redownload my psn games.. this sucks... so i format the hdd, and then I am able to download and play my psn games.. but I dont have all my save game files!
so, i put back the original harddrive, and used multiman to copy the devhdd0/home/00001/savedate folder to usb drive. i put back the new hdd, and load up multiman, and i copy that savedata folder from the usb to devhdd0/home/00001/ hoping that would work. but back in the xmb bar, no saves show up at all under ps3 saved game data. why?

Try rebuilding your database in recovery menu to get your saves to re-appear in the xmb. When you try to de-activate and reactivate, try doing that on OFW, if you only tried on CFW

no. You will be fine, no need to reload pup or anything like that. i just upgraded to a 500gb seagate. jailbroke on first boot. just have to ftp ALL ur games over again. make sure to backup save files. already tested dead rising 2 and i t booted fine on BMv2.
this 7200rpm actually seems like it loads game data faster, could just be wishful thinking tho

But i read on another forum that if you upgrade the to a new hdd that it will format and ask you to install the OFW? So how can i be still jailbroken with kmeaw CFW if it wants me to install the OFW?

depends on the ps3 then, because when i put in the new hdd, it asked for a usb thumbstick with a firmware file on it. i installed 3.55 ofw, and then installed the cfw.

When I upgraded the hard drive on my 256mb nand model PS3 I still had my install packages folder when I rebooted. So its safe to say my firmware didnt change. I could be wrong but I think the 16mb nor models need to reflash firmware since some of the firmware data is saved to your hard drive.

You can use cfw. Worked for me. The damn activation bs is annoying! I got the error, then formatted, activated fine did a restore, and boom error again. I finally formatted everything then copied the game dir over.
