hi, i have make pc codes before, using cheat engine, and i know how to use a hex editor etc.
is editing most ps3 save files as easy as just opening the file in a hex editor? there must be a checksum, how can i 'fix' the file?
and, how do people make the codes that are applied to eboots for cheating?
i'm sure it is not as simple as using cheat engine on a pc, but, i still want to know.

Yep, you are right. It's not simple.
Most saves are encrypted and protected with a checksum. The checksum is stored in the .PFD file.
The way it's generated is not known yet.
So basically, you have to decrypt the save, modify it, re-encrypt it, and finally update the hash.

hmm ok, thanks, so there is no program i can just decrypt the save, then edit it myself, then encrypt it back?
and sorry, you didn't mention making the codes that are applied to the eboot, how are the addresses found?

anyway, you might be able to decrypt, modify, and encrypt it back again. But the problem is with the last step "updating the hash".
As for the eboot addresses, I think certain tools are used. But honestly I haven't checked that stuff yet.

Edited ps3 gamesaves exist people do it and the altered saves themselfs are available for download in various locations, yet when someone asks how to go about it they don't seem to get an answer by somebody who actually knows how or can provide any useful information. I find this rather frustrating as this is something I would like to attempt, surely the method these people use is laid out somewhere.
