Heavy Rain and other protected saved games not working after transfer **SOLVED**
Heavy Rain and other protected saved games not working after transfer **SOLVED** –

So I don't know if this has been discovered and I'm just way behind but here we go:
I just upgraded my internal hdd, before I did, I backed up all my save games. The only ones I couldn't copy from the XMB were Heavy Rain and The Sly Collection.
After doing some reading I found out that those game saves plus others were protected and could not be copied. Undetered I ftp'd to hdd0/home/00002/savedata and copied both save game folders (2 for each game) to my desktop.
After replacing my hdd and copying back all my save games (except those two). I launched Heavy Rain and let it update and install data. Then I played till it made one save. I then quit the game and ftp'd back to hdd0/home/00002/savedata, I found the two save folders that were just created and overwrote the files inside with the ones from my desktop. NOTE, I copied over the files only. I didn't just drag the whole folder over.
After doing that for both save game folders for both games I fired the games back up to find out that the save data transfered and am now right back to where I left off in HR and TSC before the HDD swap!
I'm not sure if this will work transfering to a different PS3 but it worked when just upgrading my HDD.
Hope this helps and it's not old news.

I too am not sure if this has been discovered before, but this is an excellent find.. I've been wanting to transfer a few protected saves myself.
Thanks for the input Tallica!

I know i'm psyced. I really thought this was gonna be a bigger deal, I've seen people complaining about this for a while!
I copied everything that was in the folders to their respective folders on my PS3 and it worked.
That sucks about your save, but hopefully that won't happen again now.
You probably don't want my save game, I'm not that far through (just didn't want to start over) and I messed up a couple of times already.

Wouldn't the PS3 backup and restore options from the settings menu work?

you didn't need to make another save since the old save data was technically from your own ps3, you just had to transfer it back to where it was.
