Alright so im not going to post any links or anything, so just be warned. However, i was wondering if it was possible to (PURELY THEORETICALLY) download a folder with the contents of a psn classic, then use the open source toolkit (or SDK, if you REALLY had to) and package it up, etc and install it as a package onto the ps3. has anyone tried this, it could be really cool. Maybe one could make use of the demo installers or something? This would be really cool to figure out.

Took an hour or two, but it doesn't work. We can't edit psn pkg's yet, in the sdk I keep getting protection errors. Until someone reverses Sonys secruity on the pkg files, were up the creek dude. It'll happen soon though, we got so many things in the works as is.

what i was thinking, is maybe just take all of the files from the game-specific folder of the psone classic from dev_hdd0? maybe then package it up and install it. that might work but I dont know, in theory, it sounds like maybe.

That won't work. There's a license file called ISO.BIN.EDAT that houses the license data that will allow you to play the PSN game. If you copy the files to another PS3 it's just going to ask you to go online and re-download the license data.

If we still had access to PSN and someone tried to log into PSN to renew the license what would have happened?

Furthermore what if we still had PSN access and signed in using a PSN account that had purchased the game in question (But used up all 5 downloads). Would it still work?

    @ mrelectro713

That ISO.BIN.EDAT file is basically the EBOOT.BIN I assume. That's all that stands in our way. This is so funny. We can run PS3 backups, but not PS1 backups! lol. I'm sure the developer of the Backup Manager could easily make one that works for PS1 games. Where are you good sir! lol.

There is quite a different in running a PS3 Backup and a PS1 Backup.

PS3 Backup is just a unmount of the bd and a mount of the FS for the drive. So far i know.

And a PS1 backup manager would just be an unmount of the CD and a mount of the FS for the drive.

Actually, no. The ISO.BIN.EDAT file is the license file that the PS3 needs to play PSN classic games. The actual "eboot" is stored in a different folder and is named EBOOT.PBP
