I need to delete some demos i;ve previosuly downloaded from PSN to free up some space, but i really like some of the animation sequences when highlighting their icons.

What files can i safely delete from the internal drive via FTP, and which ones should i leave so that i can only browse and highlight the icons, but without any actual game files to exist?

I believe you could find their game folders and delete most files in the usrdir other than the eboot... or you could just copy over the images and what not to something you want to keep (use either Comgenie or Multiman or etc)

You first need to find the GAMEID, you could probably google the game to find it, not sure what a demo would start with. They would be in dev_hdd0/game/gameid. The only advisable thing to delete would be stuff in the USRDIR folder, except the EBOOT.BIN. The xmb icon animation would be the ICON0.PNG file. If you can't find the gameid, you could go one by one looking through the PARA.SFO files to find the game.

Is this where the ps3 saves data? Demos and installation for full games? Okay i'll try here.

That is just the game folder, saves are in dev_hdd0/home/00000000#/savedata (where # is user number). The game/GAMEID is where demos and psn stuff (the game category on xmb) stuff is.

Yes that's what i meant. But isnt this where it installs game content as well? For example MGS4 installs required data at the start of each chapter. I guess i will find such data on this folder as well, besides all the other PSN stuff...

So i went there, and i see it contains some weird folder naming titles ids, like NPEJ-xxxxx and i have difficulties understanding which is which...

I'll try it on ademo i'm sure of its title and see what happens.
