    i can help translate if its possible? study in japan for 1 year so this will be good homework for me to fresh up my japanese ^^

    True translation engine just doen'st make sence... and there is like possible to translate many diffrent way in japanese ^^

    I'm trying now with just changing japanese characters.

    ---------

    Japanese characters switched with other didn't work. I pasted "ninini." xD (ni as in two --> 二 = 4E8C)
    It didn't work.

    Now that I think about, they use numbers in the subtitles (2 sugar cubes - Katherine cutscene)

    Trying once again with another thing...

    Black screen again...
    I think it's safe to assume that editing the *.bmd this way won't work.

    I'm out of ideas. Will wait a few days to see if anyone comes up with something

    I'm using this site instead of the other one posted here.

    Oh, if anyone is trying out stuff remember to also change the bmd in the usrdir/movies folder, and not only in the data.cpk

    And the PAM files can be played by the PS3 - plug your hdd or copy the pam to a usb, use triangle to show all files and browse in the xmb. It's pretty helpful to find which bmd is where.

    I guess you guys have heard that Atlus just sent out emails saying this game is going to be japanese only?

    Yeah, So that's why I was holding out on joining in. But now that I heard that, I could help out where I can.

    Keep in mind when you are switching characters, If I remember correctly, Japanese letters are 2kb compared to 1kb in English.

    Make sure when you change a letter or sentence, to encrypt the file the way it original was. Or the game will have issues. E.g. Freezing, black screens, etc.

    As far as the cuts scenes go they can be hard subbed into the video.

    You can turn the subtitles on and off and the pam files (cutscene) can be played in the xmb and they dont have subtitles, so they are not hard subbed.

    At first I tried with english characters (english is 1byte/japanese is 2bytes), didn't work, so I tried with japanese characters changing just 1 sentence while keeping the size and end of line markings (if they exist) in the same place.
    It didn't work so before dealing with the english characters we have to be able to change the *.bmd files.

    We have to unpack the cpk (use quickbms and the cri script) go into the movie folder, change the bmd files there and also change the bmd in the usrdir/movie folder (It's probably the same folder).
    To repack use the cri packed file maker, file mode = filename, data alignment = 2048, no compression.

    I was pretty tired at the time so I may have missed something or used the wrong bmd files. So double checking is a priority I think.

    I'll shift my focus from the cutscenes to smaller things like menus (they are mostly english though) and see if I can find something there.

    Also, I've already asked this twice. Does the eboot have anything to do with this?


    (PS:Maybe Atlus will release the game in 2012. Persona 3 was released 1 year after in NA I think)

    hey guys, been lurking psx scene for awhile till i came across this thread . And i thought i'd give it a shot.

    i tried a few things, and i could be wrong but i think it has something to do with the utf-8 conversion, i copied the hex from m001.bmd from the event folder , spit out utf-8, then i put it back to hex unmodified and when you try to paste the hex code, it changes the filesize , and the hex is different, it should be the same right?

    edit: got the hex to not look screwed up , still freezes though, maybe it's screwing in repacking the pck , or the filesize itself, though again i could be wrong
