the game itself boots up fine, it just freezes up where i made the modification.
kind of stuck on progress :chinscrat, thinking of other things/ways to get the encoding right, which i think is one of the problems(if not the only one =/)
when i was converting an unmodified m000.bmd to and from hex to see if the output was the same, it wasnt.
it should output as exactly the same with no filesize changes, yet it does.
First, Excuse me for my english >_<
From what I've seen we have a serious problem with converting to/from UTF-8.
When I tried to convert a context to UTF-8, I figured out some characters have no match in UTF-8 and that will result in invalid/missing character in convert from UTF-8.
I'm working on a code that can extract just the subtitle from the bmd file, so after translation we can put it back to where it was, this way no special characters will be missing.
@Khaze do u know where I can find the very first subtitle in this game? (I mean the scene that a red-haired girl briefing the story with a TV). I wanted to manually change the subtitle and see if it'll work.
Browse the pam files in the xmb until you find the one with her. ---- I couldn't find it in the movie folder, some videos can be played while others can't. The red-haired afro woman is probably one of these: 000,021,023,026-036,099,100,300-321
I don't have time right now, but I'll find out later today when I get back home. ---- I'm back so I'll try to hex into each one to find a match with what she says.
The problem goes deeper than missing characters/different size.
I tried changing just a few characters (I didn't convert the whole file to utf and back to hex) by trial and error (converting byte by byte) and I change 1 sentence using character in that sentence, like:
original sentence - 1 2 3 ; my sentence - 1 3 2
This didn't work, it froze at the cutscene start like the other. (I MAY HAVE MESSED UP HERE, PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK THIS)
The repacking is working just fine btw, I made a data.cpk with the original files and it didn't crash at the beginning at least.
Catherine's bmd uses a custom encoding that looks like UTF16BE (extra handling for special things like font colors and such), it's not UTF8.
Any idea on how what we should do?
i succeed changing japanese subtitles to korean subtitles
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6pBGDs35wY"] korean subtitle[/ame]
i edit 001.bmd file in movie folder of unpacked data.cpk
bmd file format is just UTF-8 format.
also using 'font creator' , i add korean fonts to catherine.ttf in font folder
and repacked data.cpk by Cri Packed FileMaker 1.36
option settings are
data ailgn - 2048
file mode - filename
try compression - unchecked
mask diectories info - unchecked
Then I was right when I said I messed up with the japanese characters.
Did you also change the bmd in the movie folder in usrdir?
Hex edited? How did you do it? I missed something when I tried, I just don't know what it was xD
Catherine.tff shows english characters already. Why doesn't it work with english?
