3D Dot game Heroes Cheat (Modded Eboot)

Finally after hours of screaming I was able to mod 3D Dot Game Heroes

Current modifications:

Dash race 1 and 2
Finishing under 99 sec will give you 999coins and 1 small block
The ingame text still says 100 and 200 but you will have 999 more
You can do the races over and over again

Prices for the giga sword upgrades are all 100coins each

The number of hits for the bestiary have been lowered for monsters (not bosses) Ex: Silver slime should now be 10hits

The eboot.bin have been tested and working on 3.41 JB

The Elfs are untested but supplied if you want to package them...

Red00 packed it for 3.41 and 3.55 BLUS

Nice work. I have a simple question though. Could you help me find an eboot modification starter guide of some sorts? Whenever i google about it all i get is modifying eboots for launch purposes and not game hack purposes.

3D Dot Game was easy to do. I actually used the same method as the GT5 eboot mod to make it work on 3.41.

I created an eboot.elf in cygwin with the latest unself available (compile jan. 11th, found it packed with Auto MOD Tool / Auto PSN Game Creator v0.9.1 rc1 ).

This will create an unencrypted eboot.bin working with JB (took a few try don't know why)
Then I opened eboot.bin in Notepad++ with Japanese encoding and with the comments found in the file I was able to make the changes in hexworkshop.
Just make sure to not change the size of the sections.

You could also mod the eboot.elf and use one of the tools released to make a working eboot.bin on geohot 3.55 MFW.

Once i have a few strings, where do i go from there? I've searched but havent found the references to the values i'm looking for.

Most of the game works by events, if you look on the disk folders, each lua file describe an event in the game.
Ex: in the file DashRaceClear.lua.eu you can find :if ( Event:GetDRTime() < 25 ) then ... that is the time limit to get the 100coins in the fisrt dash race. Just do a search in unencrypted eboot and change 25 to whatever as long as you don't change the lenght.

If you do a seach for 9999 you will find the cost of upgrading the giga sword, I changed them to 0100 and it worked.

Searching for local BookRegister you will be able to change the amount of hit with the beastiary for all monsters except bosses (haven't found them yet)

If you want to be invincible, the easiest way is probably to find where the wonderdust is use and stop it from been removed from the inventory when you die or to lower damage do for each monsters.

This works with a hex editor, you don't need ida

For now the only mod is that the first dash game will give you 999coins if under 65sec and 1 block if under 55sec. You can redo the race over and over again as the limit of one time 100g and 1 block per game is removed!! Also it does count if you want the all events trophy.

This was tested on 3.41 JB on the US version (BLUS30490 v 1.0)

Update: The same as been done to Dash Race 2, under 95 sec = Prizes and every upgrades to the giga sword is now 100coins

I'll try but it took a long time to do the BLUS version because unself doesn't give me constant results.
Dash Race 1 under 55sec = 999coins + 1 small block
Dash Race 2 unser 95sec = 999coins + 1 small block
both can be redone over and over
Bestiary are 1 or 10 hits for monsters(not bosses)
Giga Sword updates are 100 coins each

This is untested as I don't have the BLES00875 version
Compress size is really 4MB
Should work on 3.41JB
