Update and other questions –
Sorry. I'm new here, and my friend has a p3free for me, but I have not seen it yet to know if it is the first version or not.
Ok so you have now confused me with the replies on the user manual thread.
1) Is the 3.41 firmware version posted here the original one by Sony or a special modified one? Can I install it before my p3free arrives? Do I need to install this first for the device to work?
2) So every time I start my PS3, if I want to play backups , I must do the boot sequence ( power then eject etc)
3) Am I safe to go on line ( for browsing etc) with the p3Free , as long as I don't do any system updates?
4) If I end up with a version 1 ( without F1/F2/F0 label)that needs the PIC programmer, we have one at work, but it will only take DIL chips, does this ribbon cable come with an adapter to a DIL socket?
5)Once the device has been updated with the F2, can it then be programmed in the future using a PC and USB?
thanks in advance
1-by Sony .and yes you can install before your PS3Free arrive .yes you need t install first to get it work .
3-well it will force you update it so you cannot .
4-i am not sure about this one .sorry
5-its upgradable via USB i think .
If it only says "F" you can't upgrade via usb, but you can read the thread at the top of this forum and get a free upgradeable one. And once on f1 and f2 u can upgrade with usb.
Thanks for the reply

So how do I connect to my network for things like FTP, but stop it connecting to the internet?
So if you already have one, can you tell me what is on the other end of the ribbon cable?

So how do i connect to my wireless network without letting it go out to the internet?

thanks for your reply... that works.... Ok but now I want to enable WMA playback and its after the internet. Is there anyway round this?
