Just got P3Free and need some help.

Hi all,
I just got the P3Free from my friend yesterday. However, I don't know how to use it neither my friend.
I have several questions.
1) I am not sure what version my P3free is. Therefore, I tried to update it through P3Free Updater which I download from this forum. However, the updater doesn't recognize the P3Free even I press the reset button. My P3free has the leds inside the black plastic(body) and it has 2 stickers on the side. 1 says V2.0++ [F]. The other one i believe is refer to the year and the month. It has a check mark on 10 on the year and 11 on the month. I also received a "cable" along with the P3free. what does it do?

2) My ps3 has firmware of 3.50. Does it mean I will have to downgrade it to 3.41 in order to use the jailbreak? If so, how can I do that?

1. You might have the PIC edition of the chip and that's what the extra cable is for. You may want to read over all the instructions on P3Free's homepage.

2. If you're on 3.50, you'll either need to buy the psdowngrader (around $120) or wait for the open source solution to arrive to downgrade to 3.41. The jailbreak will not work (WILL NOT) on a 3.42/3.50 system
