can you please provide step by step instructions in perfect english on how to upgrade and install your hex files to make this dongle do what its supposed to. Also this does allow the use of backing up my games and playing them because i would love faster loading times.

*edit* sorry for naming thread "Installing firmwares" i meant to name it "Installing .hex"

this was before the guide was poste. Patrick has yet to specify if the usb dongle can but upgraded via computer usb. Rumours are you can not update it thru the computer.

From what I've gathered this chip does not come pre-loaded with a bootloader but is already flashed with psgroove or something similiar to allow the backup manager to launch. This means that it will work out of the box with no programming but to update it you WILL NEED a PIC programmer This is crap as far as I'm concerned and should have been brought to light much earlier than this.

im waiting for x3jailbreak or ima go with ps3break they seem to be best bet for your money. P3free seemed awesome and cheap but if its not easily upgradeable its a deal breaker for me.

I think you're right! Patrick has asked to send me a sample to review. I don't like the fact of needing something separate like a PIC programmer to apply future updates. This doesn't sound good! I agree that this should have been relayed to the public much earlier.
