(([for me] this means technically the device is compatible))

using pic programmer -> PSGrooPIC_V1.6d_wBTL_FW3.41 -> NO success, red led keeps on.
Maybe the reason PSGrooPIC_1.7a worked and PSGrooPIC_V1.6d didn't work is because the oscillator values are different. I downloaded and opened both hex's with PICFlash and found that the PSGrooPIC_1.7a hex's value is set at 12MHz (which should be the correct setting for P3Free) and the PSGrooPIC_V1.6d osc value was set at 8MHz. So I wonder if changing that to 12Mhz would make it compatible. Look (PIC PSGrooPIC flashing/DIY guide, FAQ and hex files collections)HERE for some more info on how to do this.

iLLNESS doesn't recommend using his hex's for the HID18BTL at the moment. Here's a link to PSGrooPIC hex's, maybe one of these will work. PSGrooPIC Hex

    Thanks!

tested compatible hexes from PSGrooPIC Hex.
they have different led scheme, so leds are not working on p3free.

usb upgrade using HIDBootLoader-26b works perfect and stable for me.

    browse path on that url = PSgrooPIC › BTL › schema_PSGrooPIC1.0_USBHIDC18-BTL_ICSPoptional › firmware_for_LEDG-B4-LEDR-B5/

    there you find 3 folders:
    PSGrooPIC1.5-Hermes/
    PSGrooPIC1.7-Hermes-v3/
    PSGrooPIC1.6d/

    in those folders you find:
    PSGrooPIC1.5Hermes_wUSBHIDC18BTL_LEDG-B4-LEDR-B5_MCLRE_NOLVP_12MHz_build2.hex
    PSGrooPIC1.7a-Hermes3_wUSBHIDBTL_LEDG-B4-LEDR-B5_MCLRE-noLVP_12MHz.hex
    PSGrooPIC1.6d_wHIDBTL_FW3.41_LEDgB4LEDrB5_mclre-nlvp_12MHz.hex

    they are compatible with all current p3free dongles [=PIC18Fxxxx (2455/2550/4455/4500) - 12Mhz - Leds A1 B1 - USBHIDC18 Bootloader]

I did multiple tests with those 3 hexes on my p3free and 3.41 fw, 100% success rate on the boots

again, NO LEDS but code works!

so go for it if you want to run hermes2/3 or hermes3+waninkoko on your p3free

    UPDATE: check out this thread

    Thanks! worked for me
Well, at least the led are no longer lighting up, which is something I can live without.

Thanks so much.. All 3 of these are hemres 3? Or just the 1.7?

1.7a is Hermes v3 and 1.6d is a modified Hermes v3 that allows you to download and install updates while in jailbreak mode and is the recommended choice
