    Here is the guide for how to upgrade your P3FREE to the new firmware

    For the P3FREE come with "F1/F2/F0" label:
    #1 . Download these 2 files first and install them:
    Microsoft .Net Framework V4.0 :* Download details: Microsoft .NET Framework 4 (Web Installer)
    Microsoft VC++ 2010* (x86) :* Download details: Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86)

    #2 . After done, then download and run* this updater : http://www.p3free.com/download/P3FREE_Updater_V1.0.rar


    #3 . Now insert the "F1/F2/F0"* version P3FREE,then press the RESET button (between 2 LEDs) once, after a while, it will can detect by this APP.


    #4 . Click the "Open Hex File", select the right firmware and open it.
    (NOTE: WE DON'T OFFER ANY FIRMWARE , PLEASE GOOGLE IT, LIKE THE PSGRROVE or Hermes FIRMWARE)


    #5 . Now click the "Program/Verify" button, when you see "verify Started", then mean it's upgrade complete.
    Now the P3FREE should auto reset, and you will see one "Generic USB Hub" device appear in the hardware manager.



    #6 . Till now, the update operation is done.




    For the P3FREE come with "F" label:
    #1 . Use any PIC programmer that come with ICSP port , link to P3FREE via the 8pin FPC, and connect to your PC serial port.

    #2 . How to program ANY firmware to your P3FREE?

    Click here to download the PICPgm v1420 PC program

    How to burn the firmware to the PIC chip:
    [1] Insert the Serial programmer to Serial Port of your PC, and click the "search" button, to see can find the programmer or not.
    If can't auto detect, then mean your serial port have problem, please check it or change to other PC try again,
    till to it can auto detect JDM hardware finally.



    [2] Now link to your P3Free kit, and click the "search" button again, it should can auto detect the PIC chip.
    If not, maybe you insert the FPC cable in a wrong side.



    [3] When everything ready, click the "Browse" button to select one firmware.


    [4] Then click the "Program" button


    [5] It start to burn, in some time the progress bar will stop to response, seems it hang, now just don't worry and keep to wait, it'll finish after a while.


    [6] After program complete, this green window will show 3 seconds and auto close, now the new firmware is ready for test, all done!

    WOW , it means the P3Free comes with 'F1/F2/F0' is USB upgradable , right ?
    Just sent an email to Lightake to see which version they got since their price is competitive.

    I believe all shipping ATM are F2 according to Patrick. But you should at least be able given F1 version. Also check www.ic2005.com lots of good reviews from them I'm not sure who has the better pricing.

    we will keep to work with new firmware, but from now all P3FREE will come with the lastest "F0" firmware, so user must upgrade it to the "F2" on your PC.

    and not the P3FREE firmware can work with P3FREE only, many other DIY firmware can work on P3FREE also if it's made for PIC chip, user can try different firmware.
