convert any hex to work with p3free and maxpic

I have done some testing with the following program MAXIMUS ANYHEX provided at the link below (HID20_specific_pic18fusb.exe). I have gotten it to take a hermesv4b for teensy 2.0 atmel chip and made it work for my maxpic and my picfun. It says its still in beta but use the non generic application and it should work. It did for me, altho the led lights do not work. This is great because no more waiting around for illness for the latest hex files as he relies on the groopic site i believe.(taking no credit from him as i love his hex files cause the led lights work) Just another way to get latest updates quick until Illness releases his.

regardless, your right this works with the maxpic/picfun but does not have LED output at all on the picfun, but has led output obviously on the maxpic.

this is an AWESOME feature to these two devices. i just tested with the max-pic and it works perfectly, blinky lights and all. very cool find here with this one man.

GOOD NEWS!

Maximus tool can convert the hexes into a P3FREE compatible hex!!!

for now (until his actual converter tool is released) you can simply take any of my P3FREE hexes and rename it to pic18fusb.hex and put it into the Generic folder of his app.

then you can open his app, load any hex for avr/pic with the payload you want and it will convert it. then program in his tool and MAGIC! you now have working LEDs.

i have tested his app both with PICDEM (unrelated to most all p3free users), USBHID and P3FREE (also USBHID but has specific LED output for P3FREE users) and it all works.

so, when his new tool comes out (hopefully today) as long as you use a hex that is known to work for your board, you can load any hex to your PIC

i have tested using a hermes source hex for avr, and using a pl3 hex of mine as the generic and it did jailbreak, but it may or may not completely work. i suggest to use a source that is the same as the target you want (aka, use a hermes source with a hermes generic bin).
