So I update my P3Free with Hermes v4b. It worked for a couple of days. Now it doesn't work and it is not recognized when I try to soft flash it again. I guess I'm going to order a Fun/Max-Pic + Prog bundle kit. If I am correct I should be able to hard flash my P3Free with the program bundle kit? Correct? Also, what is the difference between the Fun-pic and Max-pic?

all you really need is a pic programmer.

i am more interested to know how you corrupted the bootloader. what did you do to cause this?

My best guess is, I turned on my ps3 because I had the disc in there still and as soon as the disc was ejected I pulled the plug out of the wall. The P3Free might have still been blinking and doing it's thing. It is definitely something along the lines of pulling the plug while loading. It worked a few hours before that just fine. Lesson learned, shut down ps3 properly and don't be impatient.

How much is just the pic programmer because the kit is $39 (Fun-pic + prog bundle kit) and I would have a backup "P3Free"?

I am still curious about the difference between the fun and max?

Fun-pic + prog bundle kit is better than the single prog, becuase it's $10 difference only.
There are all firmware list for P3FREE, you can use the latest Hermes V4b / Kakaroto's PL3 / P3BREAK / P3HUB firmware on your P3FREE kit!

That'll be the problem then if it was still in its boot up procedure.

Why just pull the plug, thats bad for the PS3 as well as messing up your P3free. Another 5 seconds and you could have shut it down properly dude.

I do have the ps3 slim. Using that cable would be convenient, but it wouldn't prevent the P3Free from bricking. Or would it protect it?

usbhid bootloader has been known to be bricked by the ps3 itself (turning it on without hitting eject).. it seems to be random, but it is because the usbhid bootloader is larger then 800bytes and the WRTB flag only protects bootloaders 800bytes or less so there is 200bytes open to get corrupted.
PIC based jailbreakers please visit my thread below and please READ. I have spent a few hours now trying to explain everythign as best I can here. You will also find my latest HEX releases there as well.
