Ok, those of you who know me know I was all over the Kiosk units like a rash for ages. Making psgroove work on it, 3.50 spoof, then finally converting it to retail as a guinea pig for others.
So as much as I love irony, this will help others in the same boat..
If you are having issues getting to 3.41 on your PS3, but you seem to be able to install say, 3.15 and/or 3.50 then read on.
Let the irony begin...
- Install 3.41 Kiosk firmware onto your console
- Install the "modified 3.41 pup" onto your console.
- You are now back at 3.41
Yes after all those years trying to get rid of the Kiosk firmware, it turns out to save us in the end.
Be aware, your going to lose your bluray playback more then likely (if you havn't already) so do a full backup to "maybe" prevent that happening.

I believe the same happens if you use debug FW

This one never had any debug stuff run on it. The only thing it did have was the "modified pup" that also includes debug mutations in it.
As stated, if your looking at this post for a soloution, then your BD is already gone. From what I can gather, it's the BD firmware thats being changed, not just files... but that is only an opinion atm.

I was lucky enough to have my dev_flash3 backed up so I actually lost nothing

When you first booted up was your BD working, or you never checked and just copied dev_flash3 back anyway?
Also what model?
Trying to build a mental image of the issue =)
Edit, this could come down to a certain drive type that the PUP had the firmware for.

I will assume you read the last thread... well skimmed over it and missed the point completely.
It was 2 consoles. A KIOSK converted to RETAIL and a RETAIL converted to DEBUG (that the kids screwed over updating to 3.55 while I was at work - epic fail I might add)
