Just an idea because we could prob use the 2 plug thru USB ports meaning move games that require the eye run off the free PS3 USB.

Not sure why the dongle itself is required when the PS3 already has blutooth????

I have searched google but cant seem to find any info on the dongle.

The guitar doesn't use bluetooth, it uses a 2.4GHz signal which the dongle provides. Much like the third party wireless controllers which came out for the PS2.
I imagine it doesn't use bluetooth because Sony won't let third party developers make bluetooth controllers for the PS3 or maybe it just costs too much? Come to think of it, are there any third party bluetooth devices for the PS3?

Logitec makes a bluetooth keyboard with built in touchpad. It can be used on a pc but its sold as a ps3 accessory.

PS3s natively support bluetooth keyboards (and mice) though, same with headsets, the question should be "are there any third party bluetooth controllers for the PS3?"

I opened the dongle and got the ID off the main chip

    ROR3 Device 2006 V1-0
    Au9253 HAS GR
    SL 01614-2
    0621T

When searching for the datasheet for the Au9253 HAS GR i found the idea had already been considered here:

    ps3hax.net/showthread.php?p=112029

Anyway the other site seems to say it wont work but i will upload photos of the dongle soon anyway.

    EDIT: Photos added.

Info on the second smaller chip is:
    FT24C02
    08202b

I think the smaller chip is a EEPROM and the bigger chip is a USB Controler Chip.
