Virtual Update server?
Virtual Update server? –

Hello,
As I understand now since we have lv1 keys we can decrypt anything on ps3. Also the reason we cant update newer PS3 to cfw is because there is no USB upate function.
My question is what is stopping dev's from creating a mini virtual server on PC and tricking PS3 into thinking that this virtual server is the official sony update server with a new (custom) firmware available.
Is there something technical preventing it (like some sort of fancy encryption for comunication protocol)?

We can't sign a firmware because we don't have the private keys.

you'd think that with all the keys recently being leaked, that atelast ONE of them would give us the power to do what we want....

Nope, the only reason we are able to install over OFW 3.55 is because of a big goof on Sony's part. That has since been fixed.
