v1.7/1.6 fw stopped working

Having weird problems.

Got a 18f4550 board flashed with xbox spi btl and illness's 1.7a hex. It was working on my console. One of the games hanged when starting up and now after rebooting it does not go into JB mode. Keeps coming up with and unknow usb device has been connected.

So I use picdem and reflash 1.7 - same problem. Downgrade to 1.6 - same problem.

Downgrade to 1.5 and its working again. I've tried a few boards - none of them with 1.6 or 1.7 work with my fat ps3 anymore?

Any ideas? Its driving me nuts! Using illness's nolvp schematic.

Update: Downgraded to 1.2 - also working.

iLLNESS already posted a thread about this very issue. Something about fixing bricked Jailbreak PIC boards. It appeared yesterday. Should probably check it out first.

I've now tried 1.3 and it works but I still get the unknown usb device error.

Update: Problem solved with iLLNess's help - thanks a ton.

Remeber to take note of the lvp pin - their use a resistor or disable it in the bootloader. My bootloader had it enabled and I didnt have a pullup resistor on the pin so it caused all sorts of problems. Its weird how it only showed itself in the later hex's though.
