Hermes v4b payload worked perfect on my new PS3 160GB. I am new on the PS3 scene and I want to say thanks to the people that participates in this post, I have read all of it and was really helpful. Special thanks to remainnameless. Happy holidays to all.
This may sound like a goofy question but would there be any difference in using a TI-84 vs a TI-89? I have both at my disposal. Does one offer longer battery life or any other advantage?
Having said that, the 84+/SE is probably better as it has hook functionality, where the PS3 will automatically turn the calculator on when you do POWER+EJECT, it'll automatically jailbreak it, and turn back off after the number of seconds you specify in the Options menu. So you never have to touch the calculator again, just hook it up via USB and stuff it behind the PS3.
I think that you have invested so much time into making the port just work, who needs the extra features? I wish we had someone who was as knowledgeable as you are and was in the scene to help you out. Hell, if I knew anything I would help. ;)
It's cool if you add the functionality, but don't kill yourself trying to make the hook feature for the admittedly smaller TI-89 user-base. If someone REALLY wants the hook, they can always buy a TI-84 at a pawn shop or on craigslist or ebay for a decent price.
I'm going to see if I can contact Mathieulh, KaKaRoTo, or superg and see if we can track down the reason why some of the compatibility appvars aren't working. I don't know if you checked out the first post in the TI-84 thread; I got a majority of older firmwares working, but I'm still lacking a few. I feel like I'm making them correctly now, but they just aren't jailbreaking correctly, even though the calculator reaches the "DONE" state.
I'll let you know if I hear of anything. Have a happy new year man!
