PS3 broke recently looking for a ps3 with 3.55 or lower to install CFW. Are stores starting to stock up with 3.56+ firmware consoles. If so, does anyone know what serial numbers they are using.

I bought my PS3 about 2 weeks ago and it was on 3.40.
From where?
Was it a 160gb what did it say on the box?
yeah 160gb. cech-2501a
Thanks for your help, I bought one last night and it was at 3.50![]()
sonly only usellay sell p3s at ever .5 Incerments... (IE 3.50 3.55 3.60)
so I don;t expect to see any 3.56 firmware boxes and since 3.60 just cam out give it a few months before they hit shelves..
BTW they don't do them by serial numbers. They do them by Model Number (IE CHCLE0)
Just got three 160gb models today for some friends to install CFW and all were 3.50 so there is still some hope.
EDIT
Sorry left the most important part out.Anyhow this was after yesterday I went to Lamestop to try and save them a few bucks and buy used and all three were 3.56 so I guess Sony is even making resellers update.
Not that Sony is making them that I am aware of, it is just all of GS' PS3's are technically refurbished. Every one that gets traded in is sent to their warehouse to be formatted, cleaned and checked for failure. I assume updating firmware is part of this process.
You can thank this on some 8 year old kid finding pr0n on a used PSP Memory Stick he bought from GS. Now anything with a HDD or and removable storage gets sent off to be securely wiped.
