hi i successfully downgraded my ps3 from 3.50 to 3.41 without it affecting my blu ray playback. however today i decided to upgrade the hard drive and it is no longer booting up. it keeps saying

the system cannot run correctly. press ps button to try and restart the system.

If the system cannot be restarted, the system partition of the hard disk must be reformatted and you must reinstall the system software.
Insert storage media that contains update date of version 3.41 or later, and then press the START and SELECT buttons as the same time.

i downloaded the 3.41 update and placed it into the ps3/update and it begins to format the hdd and at around about 60% it says

No applicable update data was found.
Insert storage media that contains update data of version 3.41 or later, and then press the START and SELECT buttons at the same time.

i know the update data is valid because i used the same file when i updated my 3.40 system to 3.41 in order to jailbreak.

i hope somone can enlighten me on the matter

Well, as long as you have the valid 3.41 PUP file (not the modifed one from the DGF.rar files), I would try PS3 safe mode and reinstall the firmware in there.

    Hi.

I might be wrong but I believe the path must be PS3/UPDATE (case sensitive/uppercase).

You can also try with another "USB PEN" and remember that it must be formatted to FAT32.
I have some reports from friends that tried with different USB Pens and then it worked...

    Hope it helps
