Rock Bamd / Guitar Hero DLC on FW 3.41

Hello! This is a turorial on "How To Use Your Rock Band / Guitar Hero DLC on Firmware 3.41 Jailbreak"

Please bare with me, I am legally blind so testing and writting this took
me a while but as long as I can help you, is all worth it!

I feel if you payed for something you should be able to use it.
I spent over $2000 on Singstar - Rock Band - Guitar Hero DLC!

So I need to resolve this Quick


Things We Need:

1. PS3 Console
2. Usb Drive
3. Two Ps3 Hard Drive ( Yes Two)
4. Access To The Internet
5. Rock Band (1) (2) (3) / Guitar Hero DLC
6. A Dongle To Downgrade
7. Firmware 3.41 And Firmware 3.50

Let's Begin!

*Please Make Sure You Backup ALL Your Data First*

Part 1: Updating To Firmware 3.50

1. Turn ON Your Console ( Sorry you have to
2. Format Your Pen Drive ( Fat32 )
3. Create A Folder called "PS3" and go Inside That Folder
4. Create A Folder Called "UPDATE"
5. Place Your 3.50 Firmware .Pup Inside the "UPDATE" Folder
6. Go to System Update >> Update Via Storage Media

The Console Will Detect the Firmware 3.50, now follow the
on screen steps to complete the update.
Once the console reboot is time for Part 2!

Part 2: Getting Into PSN!

1/ Highlight "Settings" and go all the way down into "Network Settings"
2. Go to "Internet Connection Settings"
3. Hit "X" and select "Custom"
4. Scroll to the right until you see the DNS Settings"
5. Now select "Manual" and type the following

Primary DNS 67.202.81.137
Secondary DNS 67.202.81.137

6. Log In Into PSN
7. IMPORTANT STEP - Activate Your PS3 System
This will create the ACT.DAT (Select "GAME" )
8. Now we need to Refresh the ACT.DAT ( See Step 9)
9. Redownload ANY Rock Band DLC ( 1 Song Is Enough )
10. Install The Song
11. Power OFF console

Part 3: Swapping Time!

Why Do I need to do this?

1. Downgrading Will NUKE your HDD data
2. Making a System Backup WILL unsign Rock Band / GH DLC
3. It takes too long to backup!

1. Now that the console is OFF, take off your PS3 HDD
2. Plug In your Second Ps3 HDD I use a 40GB
3. Flash your favorite dongle into owngrade Mode:
4. Do the Downgrade into Firmware 3.41 ( There is a lot of tutorials )
5. Once you take your console OFF SERVICE MODE DO NOT TURN ON
6. This is where you put your original PS3 HDD back.
7. Turn On Console, you will NOTICE that you are not asked to
do the initial settings such as Time / Network etc & will NOT forma5 your drive!

The console will simply ask for Firmware 3.41!

Part 4 Installing Firmware 3.41

1. Take your Pen drive and delete the Firmware 3.50
2. Copy your Firmware 3.41 .Pup into the "UPDATE" Folder
3. Press "Se;ect Then Start
4. Follow the on screen steps to finish this part

Part 5 "Oh SH*T IT WORKED!"

1. Flash Your dongle into Jailbreak Mode
2. Do the jailbreak method and Start Rock Band / Guitar Hero
3. Test any songs
4. It's Time To Play ^_^"

as far as I can tell (at least for titles I tried) this only works on fat models, or at least it didn't work for me. Netflix, all PS1 titles, and PSN titles did not work. The only ones that worked were demo games where the purchase just unlocks the title (like Marvel vs Capcom 2).

edit: Oh, this method is possibly slightly different, going to read it over again before passing judgement

edit2: Hey that's kind of a sweet idea. So if you put a 3.50 drive into a 3.41 system it will just ask for 3.41 firmware? You sir are brilliant. Going to try this now.

edit: You should change the title if this works for me, because this would be more than just Rock Band DLC, this would be ALL PSN content on all models working in 3.41.

****, I think I just bricked my PS3 doing this.

I attached a dongle and attempted to enter downgrade mode once I had done the first swap but completely forgot that the drive that I had swapped had not yet been ****ing formatted to PS3, it was a FAT32 drive.

My PS3 now just turns on and no video signal is sent. Any ideas? Please help

Does it need to be a retail 3.41 and not the modified one? I tried the modified 3.41 and it told me the data was corrupt

edit: loaded with retail 3.41. Unfortunately all PSN content is still not usable by me on my slim. (All PS1 games/Braid/others). The only things that work are games where they were demos first.

edit2: That's not to say it won't work for GH/Rock Band stuff, but it did not work for my PSN games content.

Didn't work for me, it says "A content package is damaged or has changed. As a result, the game has restarted. You will need to re-download any damaged content." Maybe you have to play it once first?

Also, I HAD to adjust time and network and such which you you said wasn't needed, it didn't ask me to put in 3.41.

I think you may have done it wrong, because I can at least confirm that my drive was not formatted/all that happened was the system asked me for 3.41

That said, as I've mentioned, could not get it to work for arbitrary PSN content on my slim (may work for GH/RB DLC).

When you have swapped your HDD for the second (last) time, do you start in JB mode?
Maybe that's what I did wrong.

You wanted to downgrade on the second hard drive, and as soon as you exit factory service mode and the system shuts itself off, you want to unplug it and throw in your first drive. Then you just want to power it on normally.
