There are currently a great number of devices out there. And payloads will continue to crop out.

These forums are drowning in people yelling for a working hex, payload whatnot for their dongle. (And i don't blame them!)

Then tehre are psfreedom, psfMOD and what modifications have you not for a bucket of devices. sometimes without source changes documentet (eell, or at all.)

So if you have a working toolchain set up - share it! Be it linux (my personal preference) Mac or Win-based.

Ideally there should be a wiki or sticky with instructions on setting up toolchains and requirements, and instructions on configure flags or make options needed for different boards and devices.

I have googled for ten minutes for information on how to compile payloads (aren't these supposesd to be interchangeable?) without any real success.

For my HTC Dream: Do i need an arm cross compiler toolchain set up, and what other bits?

For the different boards it is easier, I know (as often you can just compile it over and over with different make args for the different chips as far as I understand.

But still it would be great if those in the know share their knowledge, to easen their own compile burden and help satisfy everyones cravings sooner. :P

It IS a bit more advanced stuff than your usual how to, but it isn't really all that difficult. I have cross compiled before, someone just told me exactly what to do. :P

Could we set up a virtual machine that people can use to compile for their board? I think I saw someone mention that they had one set up. That way we could just say, download VMware Player, open this image, and run this make file or whatever.

payload images for the dev boards comes from the psgroove branch of the code.

For your htc dream, you'll have to use psfreedom, which is based on the psgroove payload, but instead implements the usb modules for the MSM7x00 chipset found on the various HTC phones.
google psfreedom, you'll find their wiki with instructions on how to compile.

Yes, I can find instructions to compile for PSFreedom, and a kernel source that shoud work with my dream,. Info about payloads, on the other hands are scarce. There seems to be no coordinated place for information, and people are asking the same questions over and over again. If someone knows about a wiki or similar with this kind of information, please advice. Wiibrew for PS3, except with pirate-guidance allowed would be great. With all the forums popping up all over the place, it seems strange noone has thought of a wiki yet. (someone probably has, I just can't find right now. Google are full of fake search results.
