315Groove: Check the "APPDATA/PS3_GAME" menu option in the Game part of the XMB (right next to the "Install PKG File" option). In Hermes v3, that's where the game loads by default.

    ....

I feel like I'm missing something silly. I updated the firmware on an 5th gen iPod on from Hermes v1 to Hermes v3 and weird things started happening (this is on a PS3 running 3.41):

    1) I now get a "Unrecognized USB device inserted" message whenever I open the XMB or start a program. Not really important, but it's annoying. Unplugging the iPod makes this stop.

    2) Only discless booting works now (is this a feature of the payload? Am I missing some button combination like an idiot?) -- it's nice, but not everything works. I thought there was a way to get it to load through the BD-ROM menu option but I can't find it. :|

    3) Partially (mostly?) from 2, but compatibility is now in the toilet.

Furthermore, runtime patching (which was a known issue with certain file permissions in v1, for games like F1 2010 or Super Street Fighter 4) still does not work... which I thought was addressed in v3?

Thankfully, downgrading to Hermes v1 reverted everything back to standard behavior. I'm going to stick with that I can iron out some of these issues.

@Push Butan, thanks for the suggestion, but I tried that too, should have put that in the post. "An error occured during the start operation. (80028F14)" is what I get when clicking that folder.

We will have to wait for DanyL then to get on to confirm what it is. Thanks for adding your input though. I wasted many hours making sure it wasn't me :P I am pretty sure the one on page 57 is the newest PL3 built with waninkoko, but I've no clue. Is the file on page 57 the one you are using mrgino? There are a lot of links for different stuff, I gotta keep the details straight.

Looks like all the other PSGroove ports have now been updated to include Hermes V3 + Wan. + Math Fix. Seems like the new payload is stable now.

Yah, thats one reason I'm in no rush to see this working. I want to help DanyL and Crash get a working tested build for this tricky version. Both for their work, and for you guys help in pointing me the right way for compililing, but it looks like its time to move on to the new build, hopefully that one works on the dreaded 3.15 4g greyscale. Also once that one is ported to rockbox, hopefully everyone stops asking for daily compiles. I understand this one is a big jump, but people don't need new builds for every micro change that happens. If the average user has a working payload, just stick with it, look in a month or two or three for an updated version. If it isn't broken don't fix it yes?

I completely agree with you 315Groove. I've been happily using the Hermes V3 payload up until now. Its only the pkg feature now in the new payload thats made me fire up my Linux machine again to start looking at the rockbox code

The only one that works for me jb on 3.15 was by Danyl but bckup will not mount.
Is there a another working one for Nano1g on fw3.15 with hermes v3?
    thanks
Nope. No one's giving 3.15 any love either. Like I said above, I thought someone had said it was working previously. Are you powering off and unplugging the console between attempts?

Try again, please. I'm pretty sure one compile I did for that was confirmed working. For teh sake of everyone asking the question (Assuming you already know this) Power off teh system via the switch or unplugging it, turn on the player and make sure it is all the way up. then plug it in with the PS3 OFF. Turn the switch on or plug the PS3 back in, hit the power button, and then immediately with the same finger hit eject.(I've found the two finger motion doesn't always work... ????to fast???) If the PS3 takes close to 7-10 seconds to come up that's a good sign. Read the following comments too in this post so I don't cover it twice.

Give us detailed examples of what's happening and what you did to test it.

    What firmware?

I'm with you, I'll try to give what I understand of it... anyone in on this or the other thread for the past week or so feel free to correct me if I stray:
Hermes v3: added Diskless BM support and package installation support.
Waninkoko is the PL3 (a portable PayLoad library written by Kokoroto) version of Hermese v3 that Waninkoko did that did.
Mathieuhl came out and said Waninkoko did it wrong and it installed only debug packages and wouldn't install retail packages while in JailBreak and offered a fix (There is no version of this for 3.15 that I know of as of yesterday)
68625: Ya got me... I take a night off in one week and see what happens? ;-)

Here is my perspective, since there isn't a Mathieul fix out for 3.15, it's a non issue for me personally and from what I'm trying to accomplish, but when there is I'll include it. However, I don't see what the big deal is... I mean... who's going to jailbreak their PS3 to install non-debug packages anyway??? It's FOR homebrew after all.

Nope, it's broken all to hades. ;-) Atleast the one I uploaded and later removed is broken. DanyL uploaded one, but I don't think it was Hermes v3. Working on it with PSgroove315. When I get it compiled and HE says it works... I'll upload a new one. Anyone who wants to give compiling it a shot and testing between now and then PLEASE feel free to do so. ;-)

I'm working on it, but took a night off from compiling to visit a friend. This package gave me a huge fit to get compiled, I'm not sure why but I'm not surprised it didn't work (hoped it would, but not surprised.)

The 4G is my focus over the next day or so.

I have a feeling its PL3. It boots, and PKGs work fine, but so far I am unable to get a backup running via OM 1.16. It gives me the option to copy or backup, I pick backup, it says the new folder is OMAN*****, games show fine in the OM menu, and I can "launch the game", but upon returning to the XMB there is no disc icon to launch without a disc in. With a disc, the disc icon shows as the disc in the tray, not the one chosen in OM. This is my first try at backing up, so maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I have researched a bit, and I believe I'm doing everything right. If you have success let me know how you did it, and with which manager. So far I have tested red dead (apparently problems on 3.15) so I also tried infamous. Not a huge deal, my main interest is in the brew, but it would be nice to have everything working properly.
PSGrove315, I'm going to get that compile to you asap tomorrow night. The PL3 is the same one used on the other compiles, it only gets recompiled when you change PS3 firmware targets in rockbox groove... Basically, i can compile for the c200v2 and the 4G without having to recompile the PL3.

What you are describing is EXACTLY what I see with my working version for c200v1... compatability is in the toilet with 3.15 with backup mangers. PM me and I can give you more pointers.

Are those symptoms you report for the package I compiled or DanyL's compile?

See the first response in this post... also, I've found it seems to help (or atleast makes me THINK it helps) to have a disk in the drive when you hit eject and to NOT push the disk back in till you are in the XMB.

    1) This is NORMAL. I get it all the with a working jailbreak... doesn't seem to effect teh jailbreak.

    2) Compatability isn't a 100%. Take a look at The PSJBCL list and you will see big issues. Now, imagine it being 10 times worse from a compatability stand point and you're on FW 3.15. ;-)

    3) I agree, but what everyone needs to realize is that the scene is NEW. It will get better. I had a working 3.15 Jailbreak for the c200v1 more than a week ago, but didn't share it because I thought I had done something wrong be cause I couldn't find a game that worked from the HDD... 3 days later I realized I was doing NOTHING wrong (so far as we currently know) in the backup or teh launching, but it was just a compatability issue.

Heh.. well I was wondering why I couldnt get the latest Gaia Manager working with the Rockbox Hermes V3 payload. I just found this in the release comments:-

    RC6 Features:

    * Fix regression that prevent BDVD backup to work with old PL3 or psgroove payload, sorry.

Just thought I'd mention it in case anyone else is having issues

If this works, put your linux box away... I'll compile what ever you want. ;-) Got a link? BTW, if you get your linux box out feel free to jump in, I'd love the help.
