I have both pl3 and hermes files for 3.41 and the temptation is great to go ahead and "upgrade" the firmware but I do not want to lose the Linux install. I think it may provide a path to future hacking.

Hi mate, I've just tested it on my iPod 4g/photo and it did not work for me. It did not jailbroke my ps3, so I couldn't test any further.

Is there something special to do with pl3 when iPod is booting? I mean, for hermes payloads I just turn the iPod on, it appears rockbox splashscreen, and then rockbox menu. I connect it to my ps2, and it works for me. Am I missing something with pl3?

Is this the first time you've used the PL3 payload?

The timing on when you start rockbox and when you start the PS3 is a bit different with PL3 ... you need to start rockbox and then straight away hit power/eject.

Can you give a more detail about the timing?
Do you mean I need to press the power/eject a second after I choose psgroove from the boot menu?
