Re: USBBREAK- is it using PIC chipset? how do I flash?

Newbie here.
hope you are well.
I bought a USBBREAK dongle from usbbreak.com
It came flashed PSgroove hex file.
I am just wondering how to re flash with the PSgroove hermes so that I can make full use of backup manager 2.
I understand it is using a PIC chipset. not sure which one exactly though.
Anybody out there using USBBREAK?
I have plugged it in my PC, it comes up as USB not recognised. Nothing about it appears in device manger either.
I just downloaded winpic800 but it is not of much use so far too me.

Anyway can help me?

as far as i know.. you have to use a special softare... or a special usb reader...

you need pic programmer.. (additional hardware)

not good news for me i guess :(

get the bootloader software from there web site. i was able to flash mine with it.

there are batches of psbreak and usbbreak, which is using 18F2450 16KB chip.

The pcb is designed for 2455/2550 using usb hid bootloader, unfortunately,
18F2450 doesn't have enough space to hold both the firmware and the hid bootloader. So they just flash the firmware only, leave it not upgradable via usb. The button of course won't work, some pcb even doesn't have the button soldered.

Also to hide all the mess, they polished the chip top side to hide what chip it is.
