Question about .pkg's and cfw.
Question about .pkg's and cfw. –
Hi guys. I recently went over and got a tool to convert ps1/psx games to .pkg's. I did this with Tales of Phantasia. Then i realized i would need cfw to run/install the .pkg.
So, my question is, can I downgrade from 4.46 to 3.55 (or whatever the best ofw is to launch the cfw), install the .pkg file, get rid of the cfw, and then update to 4.46, and still be able to play the game i installed with the .pkg file? And also still be able to use all other functions of the ps3 normally?
Oh yeah, my PS3 is a Super Slim.
First, you can't downgrade or install CFW on the new Super Slim at the moment, there is the Cobra-ODE which is coming out soon(probably/maybe) but that would be a permanent modification for the Super Slim.
There is however a method to play backup ps1 discs on the Super Slim, it's the same as the swap trick for the original PS1, I don't have a link but it shouldn't be too hard to find.
Edit: here it is http://psx-scene.com/forums/content/...m-models-3134/
Thank you for the info Shaitan.
As for the video, I'm unclear in what I'm supposed to do.
I believe it is:
1. Have a disc burned with your PS1 game/ISO on it. Have a swapmagic disc.
2. Put the swapmagic into the PS3.
3. Put cardboard or something like cardboard in the place where you put your swapmagic to keep it open but still allows the PS3 to read the game/swapmagic.
4. Once it is loaded, take it out and insert the burned disc containing the PS1 game/ISO.
5. Close the disc cover.
6. Play the game.
Also, how would i go about burning Tales of Phantasia onto a disc? It is made up of both a .bin and a .cue.
EDIT: I also have a PS2 Slim that I am willing to softmod.
