It appears - certainly with the Teensy++ that I've been using - that the USB device with Groove only works if there's nothing else at all plugged into the USB ports on the PS3. I'm using a slim, and having PlayTV, a USB stick or even an empty USB hub plugged into the other port stops Groove from working.

Is there any way round this? I've been unplugging and plugging in my PlayTV, but I was wondering if there exists some kind of mini USB switch that lets you attach two devices to a USB port have them manually separated by a switch, so it only ever sees one.

    Why not?

You can use somthing like this, that connected just to the ps3:

or, you can solder a 2 position (4X2) switch into a USB HUB.

I couldn't get Danyl's link to work, but here's a $7 solution (no word as to quality of the product, however).

Simple 4-port usb hub with individual on/off switches. However I'm not sure this will solve your inconvenience. I don't know if a JB device can work through a hub like this. I assume you'd want to have you JB pluged into an ON port, have your other ports set to off, and then switch to ON once booted. I guess you could try plugging the JB into a USB hub by itself and see if it would cause a conflict. I don't know if it would register as two devices (the hub and the JB), or just one and the hub works as a passthrough. Does that make sense?

A homemade solution would probably suit your specific needs best, but that requires a certain level of skill. I'm in a similar boat, although my solution is easier, as I have Slim and it's a hassle to unplug every time. I need to buy a cheap, small surge protector (pretty much for it's on/off switch) to plug my PS3 in by itself. That way I can just flick the switch instead of unplugging.

When I have my USB dongle in from the beginning it stops the hack from working. However if I have my external hard drive in from the beginning it works just fine.
