thats pretty shity to have an official release update or whatever it be for a game or unit itself and not have a backup plan i mean they could easily have a system restore or recovery console put into these systems, that tells me that they really just dont care...I wouldnt be bitching so much or even as pissed off if i had been in the middle of my game and it shut off or had updated played a game or whatever and the next day it quit working but its no ****ing coincidence when right after i hit ok when it finished installing starts bugging out then shuts down within 10 seconds...now i understand these things go out on their own with power supply failures and disk drive malfunctions but mine was pretty solid and was well taken care of and i dont want a damn slim version and i dont wanna hear any b.s. from sony i think i might start putting myself in the same direction alex's buddy took
ok so heres an update on my ps3's situation...today being my first day off work i was able to do a little more reasearch online and have come to the conclusion that it was a COD Black ops update when my system crashed and ylod...so i also been looking into fixes for this but all the ylod cases ive came across arent very similar to mine...when i turn it on it gets a solid green light for about 20 seconds, i am able to insert and eject disks, the fan comes on but very low speeds and the hdd light flashes quiet often...so i pulled the hdd out and tried to turn the system on and it didnt work so i put it back in and tried to boot into recovery menu (which i was unaware of in the post above lol whoops) and to my disbelife it came up to it told me to plug controller in and go through the options...now it stayed on the whole time (longer than the normal 20 seconds or so) while i was looking through the menus and i decided to do a restore on the ps3 which was supposed to reformat it...about 2 seconds into it the ps3 shut off :( damnit now it wont even boot up to the recovery options...anyone heard or had this being the case for any normal YLOD's? Oh and also my fan is working did my first fan test and it blew hard so it doesnt seem to be hardware to me...im really confused
possible semi brick is there a way for you to put it in Factory/Service mode?
ok so i need some help hopefully someone is still watching this thread and can help out a bit...so after getting frustrated i decided to do a reflow, the guy at radio shack suggested for me to just do thermal paste first and see if that works (it didnt) so i did a full reflow just now and turned it on and no ylod...i can turn it on via bluetooth controller, put a game in, do a fan test, i dont have video tho...after reseting the video with the long press and two beeps method it comes up all jarbled and nothing is recognizable, the fan just doesnt seem to be kicking on as much as it should when i turn it on and after a while the metal plate was really hot so i shut it off ( i left all the plastics off for a test first) anyone know why the fan would do that? The fan test works perfectly but its like something in the os or bios or whatever isnt telling it to kick, it just blows softly....same exact thing as right after the update that i belive messed it up in the first place but it stays on much longer now....any ideas?
