Ok im pretty familiar with homebrew on ps3 and kmeaw etc. I have a 40GB CECHG console, it has an 80gb drive that I put in, and a blu ray drive that is from another CECHG 40gb console. I have downgraded to 2.30 but when it comes to boot into FSM with the files on the USB to remarry the drive, the ps3 just boots up into normal mode and the flash drive doesn't show any activity. I've tried 3 different flash drives including the one used earlier to enter FSM. I am confused. My jig device is an ipod video (60gb). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Make sure you have your USB drive in the right most port on your PS3.

Yes, there are two usb ports. Jig in left, USB in right yet the console just boots up normally.. Do you think there is a problem with the stuff on the ipod?

Could be if you have the correct files on your usb drive (along w/ a 2.30 pup)

Here are the instructions that worked for me (from original remarry thread)

It would appear that older 256meg nand Ps3's need to goto 2.30. Newer 16meg nand Ps3's should be fine from 3.15
Change your dongle to "Factory Service Mode"
Copy files from the folder downloaded above (the contents of the devusb folder) to the root of a blank usb stick
Copy the PS3UPDAT.PUP from 3.15 (or lower if your system can handle it) to the USB stick
Put the USB stick into the right side USB port on the PS3
Put the Dongle into any other port (furthest left is best)
Power off the PS3 using the power switch at the back
    Turn the power back on
Press power then eject within .2 seconds
Wait until the PS3 turns off then press the power button on the front again.
The USB will now start to flash and do a "Drive Init" then install the PUP file.
The system will turn itself off again.
Power on and play a BluRay movie until the movie starts.
Remove Dongle and Usb Stick then insert "Exit Lv2diag" stick (aka Lv2diag file 2) into the same port it just was in the Ps3 (furthest to the right)
Press power to exit "Factory Service Mode"
    Done......

This is exactly what I did, assuming the pup file goes in the root of the usb.

The problem might be the files, it takes long to boot like when entering jailbreak. I think since the link to the files in the tut you posted are down I had to search for the rar file somewhere else... maybe thats why Can somebody hook me up with a mirror?

Afraid I don't know what to tell you then. I'm sorry for my lack of help. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me knows what's up with it.

As you're in service mode, try taking the JIG out and booting the PS3 with the USB device plugged in... nothing else.
    60GB (120GB WD Scorpio Drive) PS3 (CECHA01, NTSC), 3.7OFW
    60GB (640GB Samsung Drive) PS3 (CECHC04, PAL), Kmeaw 3.55, Repaired (Dead Laser)
    PSP-1003 FAT, CFW5.00 M33-6 & Prometheus v2
    X-Box 360 Xenon (JTAG'ed, 500GB HDD)
