Possible to recreate/format PS3 File System?
Possible to recreate/format PS3 File System? –

Hello,
Fairly new to the board, but i've been lurking for a while. I did a search to see if there were any threads addressing this and I didn't seem to come across any. With the recent developments #failoverfl0w have brought to light about the PS3 encryption. Shouldn't it be possible now to create a program that can format external hard drives with the PS3 FS, in the same fashion that has been done with the Wii?
thanks.

when I had changed my internal HDD, I had put the old HDD (still formatted to PS3 FS) in an external enclosure and the PS3 could not read that structure though USB, I believe we'll have to wait a little longer for that compatibility.

I read something here at the scene about using "NZHawk's Awesome MountPoint Manager ([RELEASE] NZHawk's Awesome MountPoint Manager v1.1 Beta)", and mounting each game to the internal, then taking it out and putting it in an enclosure .Then being able to play your +4gb games, etc!
But it does seem like the Wii at the first stages. You could not always back up +4gb to the external and play them. Soon, I imagine, we will see more about this. Alot more then the Wii could ever Imagine!

Thanks for the reply. I'm curious how the GameOS handles which devices can be seen over USB and which ones can't? I know a regular FAT32 formatted drive can be attached via USB and read fine via the Video/Music/Photo portions of the menu. With that being said, I wonder if the PS3 just only allows FAT32 from external sources and denies everything else? If that was to be the case, would the best solution be a 3rd party Open Source app, or to open that via, if possible, a future custom firmware? Many thanks.
