Play Music During All Games
Play Music During All Games –

I think this is the right place to post this. Well anyway there are some games in which it is possible to play music while your playing a game. My question is whether or not it would be possible to enable this feature with all games? It would nice to be able to mute all in game music and play music from your system or the network. Also being able to play in game music and personal music at the same time.

there is a section in param.sfo aout enabling BGM(background music) so i think thats how you activate it somehow havent tested it much so i cant help you more do some tests and inform others if it works.maybe dean could implement it on multiman along with remoteplay enabling on param.sfo if it works.

I know this will not be a popular reply... but whatever.
This is one area where the xbox 360 simply slays. Of the few games that support custom music - have you ever tried to load music over the network?
Yeah. Doesn't work so much.
On the xbox... it sees my media server, which is sharing my music... and i can listen to whatever i like, regardless of the game.
I really think Sony should get with the program and bring this on par with the xbox....

of course sony would if they could... microsoft patented it or something, so sony cannot add it universally, it is dependant on the game developer adding it for each game they make (or so i have heard!)

Where did you hear that? Because that doesn't sound like it makes any sense. The dashboard just overlays the game, and can mute the sound from whichever source you choose. They would have to actively use the XMB during game play, which as far as I can tell they do not. It would lower the total power of the machine during game play if they did that, I guess it's just seen as an unnecessary commodity considering how meaningless it really is.

I've looked at tons of sfo files of games...and not once have I seen a "BGM" in it. Unless its literally only in "certain" sfo files and games...I don't know. I just know the sfo files for the games I got don't have that in their sfo's.

What of looking at the files of games that had custom music patched in?

i heard MS owns the property rights for there ability to have custom music. If true is most likely the reason it isnt incorperated in the PS3 and prolly never will.
