with a PS3 Jailbreak yes you can .
ohh shit he means like streaming .lol i thought he meant PC HDD ( External HDD)
nah i meant was from internal PC hdd...
So it is not possible, thanks for reply
well nope.
I don't get it. Do you mean a pc hdd vs a laptop hdd (i.e. 3.5" vs 2.5") ? If so, then yes you can, just stick the hdd into an external case :P
If you mean like somehow hooking up your ps3 to your pc and using that hdd that's already running through the pc, then that needs to be magical to happen.
You're confusing me![]()
i think he means is it possible to play backups stored on a PC through his home network...i think its possible but we ll need an FTP program that runs on the background and a backup manger that is configured to run backups from an FTP directory, anyway your answer is no you can't do somthing like that atm.
I think an SMB share would be more likely than an FTP one, FTP needs to transfer the file from one location to another before it can be used, it can't stream a file for reading, Samba can stream a file across the network.
Either way the answer is no, it is not possible right now but I would think it would be a feature that would be seen as useful being that more and more households are moving towards a central file repository.
