If it's a direct download link from one of the PSN servers open up your PS3 web browser to the page with the link and copy/paste it into the browser and let your PS3 download it. If not then try jDownloader or DownThemAll to help you get a proper download
By "mounting pkg in multiMAN" i mean pressing X on chosen PKG. multiMAN will return to XMB, and under Install Package you will see your package (doubled but it doesn't matter which one you choose).

OK, now I have a similar problem. I'm trying to install a 5GB+ pkg using the ntfs driver in mm with mmOS. Problem is mm won't allow me to copy from my USB drive to the PS3 Drive. I've tried creating a directory and pasting into that but no go. I'm trying to work out if I have a corrupted pkg or I'm doing something incorrectly or there's a feature/procedure in mmOS that I'm not familiar with. I ask this latter question because I've had no problem in the past using the old mm file manager.
And I can't split the pkg as I don't have a pc (I'm on a mac).
Any help would be appreciated.

So I managed to install the file by splitting it before copy/pasting it to the PS3 via mmOS. Seems MM or mmOS does not allow you to copy/paste files +4GB!
