I have a PIC18F2455 and a 8mhz crystal. I am using ART2003 and tried using the hex file from http://PSgroopIC.blogspot.com, but it failed during the write. I read the settings from the chip and LVP is enabled. I can also erase and read the chip without any problems. I am planning on building the board from the aforementioned site. What hex file do you suggest?

haha yeah you can connect both together, and then to ground. Its the exact same thing as connecting each one to ground... it's all the same node.

The old FAQ contains too much details people don't need and has bad structure. Confuses people, so I've rewritten it.

I have a PIC2455 chip, no bootloader, no nothing all the parts and a 12mhz osc. I also have a programmer that also supports pics so I can burn a bootloader. What schematic and bl/hex do I use for that so I can make my own with usb update support? I am also confused about the led function , not that they are crucial but it would be nice to have them
The guide is improved now, check the section of

Looks like the metalphreak diagram there is mention of a custombooloader-mp.hex and customerfirmware.hex but i cant find them in the FAQ thread?

I have flashed this bootloader MCHPFSUSB bootloader BTL-pin28-RB7 20MHz custom by MP.zip will use 20Mhz hex from metalphreak and thats with USBPDF app, then it should work (assuming I follow metalphreak PCB layout) right?

This thing about this thread is that there are so many permutations it gets confusion for newbies like me who dont understand pics that wel... maybe it would be better to have seperate threads per pic + board type?.

    One for all 18F2550 boards
    One for xbox1 nand readers
    One for nand-x type boards
    etc
Each schema has separate guide now

Only need to ground B5 on the jailbreak board not the programmer board.

Check if you have ticked LVP option in the settings tab, you need to always check it while you use ART2003

    Hi everyone,
    i've a request for you:
in Italy many people bought a just-made board based on the pic 18f2550, the board is a 990.020 MuIN USB, i'm new so i cannot post links or similar so if you want to see it search with google "Droids.it 990.020 MuIn USB datasheet [EN]", it would be the ninth result.

However, This board has preloaded Microchip HID USB Bootloader 2.6 so we can flash it with usb and the hid 2.6b software.

The hex PSGrooPIC_wBTL_HEX_V1.4.hex is fully functional apart a little thing

The problem is that this board has a led in A4 pin (even used for the bootloader status) and the hex has the led mapped on B4 pin, i don't know how to modify the hex and i don't know how to compile the source with pcwhd (i cannot find 4.112 version and if i'll find it i don't know how to use it), can you help me?

    Thanks a lot

try this, assume it has 8MHz crystal osc because you forget to mention

    Edit: now compiled to 12MHz
