I'd appreciate some opinions from any other employed adults about this whole ps3 jailbreak and homebrew stuff. I haven't been here or had access to this site since mcfreeboot first appeared. That is the last thing I had any experience with, it was/is awesome for someone like myself who grew up playing cartridge games without load times and HATES the load times of disk based games. I recently came back to this site and was AMAZED at all the progress towards the ps3. Overwhelmed, I'd say as I have all ready read through hundreds of pages and am still very confused as to what is now possible. Being a severely employed adult, I really can't spend much more time sifting through a year's worth of developments. I am a true gamer as I started with PONG, owned almost everything inbetween, and now enjoy my ps3...
My questions are: 1:Should I keep my current ps3 on the firmw 3.41 that it now has? 2:Is it really that important for the dev. of all this new stuff(having 3.41) ? I am willing to go buy another new ps3 to have access to online store and play and whatnot. 3oes it or would it increase it's value someday to people like members here? 4:Pirating doesn't interest me, is there anything else that is/will be possible besides saving games' images to your internal drive for I assume slightly better load times? 5o you guys expect all these devices to quickly disappear much like the retail hdloader disk did? 6:If so, is it important to actually acquire one of these devices now, I assume you might need their physical hardware, not like only requiring some code (hdloader.elf) before? Sorry if these are unappreciated questions,
in topic and/or length... if you find them to be so, please don't respond!

1 - Yes, if you want to make use of homebrew on the machine
2 - There's no sign of any FW higher than 3.41 being exploitable yet, very unlikely to happen using anything like the current method
3 - Very probably if the above stays true in the long term
4 - The usual homebrew stuff like emulators and of course prolonging the life of your fragile BD-ROM
5 - No, mostly becuase the USB dev boards existed long before this JB and are used for many other things, Sony can't really touch them
    6 - As above

If you hate slow loading then this whole jailbreaking thing is definitely for you. Stick a big fast hard drive in the PS3, backup all your games to it and enjoy. I definitely wouldn't underestimate the value of saving that laser too.

About the actual devices, I'm sure Sony will see to it that all the dedicated piracy usb sticks are made illegal everywhere. They obviously can't do anything about the multitude of other devices that can be used to jailbreak though. I was using my android phone initially, a lot of people use a TI calculator.

If you're willing to get another PS3 for online stuff then you're all set providing you keep the current one at 3.41

Thanks for the opinions so far...I'm kinda leaning towards self blinders as far as this whole thing goes. I know once I get started it will be incredibly addictive and time consuming trying to get everything in place and working correctly/ keeping up with the latest developments/ and just learning, learning, learning. I know over the years from my initial receival of the retail hdloader disk in the mail until I finally stopped messing with mcfreeboot, I imagine I spent hundreds of hrs researching and messing with the ps2. I just don't think I can do that anymore...HOWEVER, I do like the thought of buying pristine games, loading them into the internal hd(hopefully not too hard on the laser), and then saving my laser playing games. I forgot that was the biggest advantage of hdloader. Thanks again and keep them coming!
