    Is it possible to play PS1 back ups on a Jailbroken PS3 or a non-Jailbroken PS3?

    Unfortunately no. You can play PS1 games on the PS3 but you must have the original discs. At the moment no backup manager/ other program is able to play PS1 game backups.

    This part is right, there are no backup managers/programs that will allow PS1 backups to run but it is indeed possible to run PS1 backups on a non-JB consoles, never tried it while its Jailbroken but I can only assume that the results are the same. Of course the measures you have to go through to get backups running isn't something that you would want to do. So to simplify it Possible: Yes
    Practical: No
    As you do have to take a part of the system apart, I don't recommend it.

    Someone over at PS3 News has supposedly come up with a fix for PS1/PS2 backups. He's not releasing it though for a while due to wanting things to be running just right. Check the "PS3 Hacks" section over there.
