Need help PSJailbreak Won't Load after HD Format –
I got a psjailbreak and loaded it with psgroove and PL3 in Flip. I tried it and it worked fine, I installed Open Manager and FTP Server. But I didn't have enough hard drive space, so I formatted the PS3 hard drive, it finished and I restarted it without the dongle attached. Now when I try to load the PS Jailbreak, it doesn't work anymore. I don't see install packages or anything else and the lights on the dongle stay solid. I checked the firmware and it's still 3.41 so there wasn't any kind of update. I tried to load it again and again but I get nothing. Can someone please help with this?
Try reflashing your chip just in case. Are you even getting the double beep when doing the power eject thing? Did you leave any other USB devices connected when booting with your JB device?
Hello, Thank you for your reply. I'm getting the beeps like I did before. No other USB devices are connected. I can't reflash the chip because it's a PS Jailbreak I got from China and you can only write to it once for some reason and then the computer and Flip don't see it anymore. I had another one of these and it did the same thing. Do you think the dongle could have got messed up somehow? Have you ever heard of this happening from a format before?
Not from a format, no. I have read about dongles going bad though. I don't know how much you paid for that (god, I hope it's a clone, if it's a PSJB device), but you'd be better off getting a Maximus or Minimus AVR board, or any of the other clones that allow upgradability via the Flip software. If you know someone else with a dongle, you should try theirs on your PS3 and yours on theirs just to verify if it's your dongle or the PS3.
I'll try that and I'll post what I find out. It is most likely a clone. I'll try getting a Maximus and see how that works. Thank you for your help chesh.
You are restarting your ps3 using the jailbreak method, right? Unplug or switch it off, then plug in psjb, then replug or reswitch, then power on followed by eject?
Yes, I did the power cycle. I switched off the power in the back, plugged in the psjailbreak, then hit ON and then eject quickly. I have been using it for the past couple of days and it was working fine until today after the format. I'm going to try a different dongle like chesh suggested and I'll post the results. I hope that's all it is. Thank you.
Just an update. Problem Solved! I followed chesh's advice and tried the "psjailbreak" on another PS3, the same thing happened. So I bought a Minimus AVR USB, flashed it with PSgroove w/pl3 and tried it out. It worked perfectly. It must have been the cheap Chinese knockoff psjailbreak I got. It wasn't even worth the 20 bucks I paid for it, it didn't even last a day! Thank you chesh and tthunder for all your help.
proof positive that again, those clones are cheap garbage like i've been saying all along. sorry to hear you initially got ripped off.
