I couldn't find a guide on this anywhere so I thought I'd write one. Please note that this is much slower than directly connecting to the playstation but if you're lazy like me you can do this without leaving the sofa which, with all things, is a plus.

OK so first what you have to do on the mac;

1. Go to system preferences and select Network.
2. Select Airport and click on Advanced.
3. Click on the TCP/IP tab.
4. Change the Configure IPv4 to manual.
5. Put in the following settings;

IPv4 Address: 10.1.1.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Router: 10.1.1.1

6. Next click on the DNS tab and click the plus symbol and the of the DNS servers column and add 10.1.1.0
7. Click OK and then Apply.


Next on the playstation

1. Go to Network settings.
2. Select Internet Connection Settings.
3. Select Custom and then Wireless.
4. Select scan and select your network.
5. Select the type of security you have (if any) and put in the password.
6. Select Manual for IP address settings.
7. Put in the following settings;

IP Address: 10.1.1.2
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Router: 10.1.1.1
Primary DNS: 10.1.1.0
Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0

8. Select automatic for MTU.
9. Select Do Not Use for Proxy Server.
10. Select Enable for UPnP.
11. Test connection if you wish, if you have the mac settings above in and your mac is turned on it should obtain an IP address and fail internet connection.

To use ftp

1. Open blackbox.
2. Open your mac ftp client of choice (I use transmit).
3. Select ftp connection and under server put in 10.1.1.2
4. Click connect and everything should work fine.
