Hi all. I posted this in the multiman thread but I don't think it was the right place so I will try here. I have searched the net for an answer but with no luck.

The problem is my games saves appear in the XMB but not when I load a game.

    History:

    - Backed up my 40GB 4.2 OFW PS3
    - Gave my 40GB PS3 to inlaws who have now gone overseas.
    - Bought a used 250GB Slim PS3 with OFW 3.41
    - Restored game data from 40GB to 250GB Slim.
    - Upgraded OFW from 3.41 to 3.55 via USB
    - Upgrade to Kmeaw CFW 3.55
    - Installed Multiman 04.04.01
    - Backed up original copy of Mass Effect 2 to internal HD using mM.
    - Loaded the game using mM - loaded OK.
    - When select start game and go to load my game there are no Save games?
    - Go back into XMB all my save games are there.

Any insight into fixing the problem would be great!

    Many thanks!

it seems your previous saves were for a different region, if you use different save for example "BLES00229SGTA401" (gta 4) and your game disc has "BLUS00229SGTA401" the game won't recognise your save files as it's different region, you can change the region of your saves but you need software like xploder to do something like that.

to find out what games are incompatible just copy all your saves to a usb drive and then compare the game id to your games and then you can change the region accordingly.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. I can see how that would be a problem but the game is definitely from the same region, by the way I am in New Zealand, which is PAL same as Europe. The only thing I can think of is the original game was hired (saves created using that copy) then I bought a copy and that was the copy that 'backed up' internally?

I don't know if that game is one of them but some games have different Game ID's for the same region, maybe for different countries IDK. Like jalaneme mentioned check the Game ID. Use a Param.sfo viewer/editor to check the Game ID of the save and compare it to the backup's folder or just look at the spine of the game's cover.

where you rip the game it shouldn't effect saving and loading unless you modify the game files itself, also some eu game releases have different language versions so for example there could be a german version, spanish version of the same game but it will have a different game id code, it does get complicated lol

if you don't think it's a game id problem then the saves could be corrupt, but even if that was the case when you load a game up you would get a prompt when the game tries to load a save file saying loading failed and it would delete the save file but you said you don't get that, you get nothing at all.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. Yes I did read somewhere that there are extra languages that you can delete, which I did see install as well. I will cut them out if I run out of space! Here is the screen grab of the original game save in an sfo editor. Not sure which parameters I would need to change as none of them are actually game id? Also, where do I actually put the game saves, back where they were - under the game data? Thanks!

Just to finish thread off for those who encounter a similar problem. I think the problem would have been solved by syncing the trophies with the server. I think this re-connects the user account with the games saves. As PSN access is down for CFW I was unable to test it. In the end I go feed up and ditched the CFW and upgraded to OFW 4.21. I could then sync, and it did in fact fix the problem.
