I get the same speed.. I think you need a gigabit connection (so a router that supports 1000mbps and a gigabit ethernet card, correct me if I'm wrong on this please)

I get very slow transfer speeds on gigabit with cat5e cables. At first going to pc i was getting an average of 30MB a sec, But when i went to transfer files back to the PS3 i got only 2 - 6MB a sec, I think now its slow both ways! But im not sure i will need to test this again.
Its a brand new 320g Move Bundle, Less then 2 weeks old, "btw im wanting to trade it for launch model ps3 but without move and the hard drive. "Just the Unit" so i can play my old ps2 games witch i no longer can play them no ps2 and i got like 15 + games"
Side Note: My pc has a DTV ATSC HD tuner and when i try to play over the air dtv recording aka wtv files in the ps3, they will play but it takes forever for it to start and then you basically cant fast forward or skip into the show bc it is to slow, My other pc in another room can easily do this without a problem, They are both windows 7 home built computers that i built myself,
Everything is wired cat5e my PS3 and the comp with tuner are on shorter wires in my bedroom and the other pc is in the living room is on a longer wire, so wire length isn't the issue as the pc with the longest wire can easily play back wtv over the lan with full speed aka i can fast forward and skip 30 second jump or jump anywhere i want basically instantly but on the ps3 i can't get it to do that it ends up taking longer actually then just waiting for it to play.
you need to becarefull using a HDD with 7200rpm. you dont get much difference in loading times and it can actually overheat ur ps3

I wish there was a way to get faster speeds just via wifi from the ps3 , all I get is not even 100 kbs .. my net line is 20 megs also so I am screwed until I get some more cables I guess
I bought myself a new HDD for the PS3 and the problem is probably the SATA1 HDD that is in the PS3 originally. The new HDD i bought is SATA2 and my transfer speeds on a 1GBit crosslink setup is between 40-70MBit on larger files.
Hope this is of any help.
Some of you guys are using a router so you are not going to get fast speeds, you need to connect the PS3 directly to your PC to get 200mbs - 300mbs on a 1Gbit LAN card depending on the files being transfered
True as with my harddrive(sata2) i get much better speeds then 200-300MBit.
what is the best cable to use for a LAN FTP setup. I use a cat5e and get 20 MB/s... if I use cat6 will that go up ?
Unlikely to make any difference even my cat 5 cable does gigabit speeds of 28 MB+/sec.
