Seeing as the internal PS3 hdd is 2.5" and they are generally pretty slow, I'd assume the bottleneck is your hdd's practical max throughput. We could discuss your model, but that is likely the culprit.

    20MB/sec is awesome, i max out at 11MB/sec using a 10/100mbps switch.

On a 100MBit (not Byte) switch you can't go higher.

    You need a GBit switch.

He just mentioned that he has 2 cat6 and a cat5e cable, so clearly he IS using wired. The issue here is almost certainly the hdd transfer speeds. If you were to upgrade to a faster internal hdd im sure you would see an increase, but not a great one. Maybe someone will develop an hdd benchmark for the ps3 using the homebrew for situations like this.

On a side note would it be at all possible to say hook up a sata and power connection that then runs out of the ps3 to a 3.5" drive like a caviar black?

sorry i should have quoted but it was a suggestion for KoolKid2K4 those speeds are too slow for wired connection.

Well if youre using a standard 100mbit connection thats only slightly below average. You might be better off to get an external drive with an esata and usb port. Usb will be much faster to rip from the ps3, then esata to transfer a copy to the pc as well at even faster speeds than that. Thats what ive been doing anyways
