hey guys! I have a cross cat6 cable connected to the ps3. I have a laptop with 100mb ethernet full duplex card. I am using filezilla + blackbox ftp server 1.2 + pl3 and I am only transferring at 1.3 to 2.4 MBytes/s
I don't know what the issue is but it is so slow
i have the same and get around 30Mb not using filezilla somehow it don't work lately.. i use cuteftp and manually selecting setting from the ps3 isntead of auto everything.. but still isn't this to slow?
100mbit network = max 12,5MB/s - 30 is impossible.
Try to reconfigure networksettings on PS3, set transferrate manually to 100MBit if it wont work on autoconfig.
nop wouldn't work. configured it manually. Should I set the MTU, or is it fine to keep it automatic.
forced the pc ethernet card to 100mb full duplex and the ps3 as well. I have got just no clue whatsoever. why this might be happening.
does anyone know what could be the issue. :wow:
The cable that I am using is cat6 and only around 3 meters long. I don't think it should really matter.
I have been trying this the last couple of days. I first tried it through a straight cable and router, but that was giving me this same speed. I kept reading these posts but no joy.
Nevermind. I found the problem to be in the internal ps3 hdd (500 gigs). I think it is going to die. And that was the issue why it was giving me such slow speeds.
I am no networking expert but from what i heard the MTU settings of the so called Jumbo Frames are important on gigabit lan.

I was getting 25-30MB/s with the stock 250gb 5400rpm. I upgraded to a 500gb 7200rpm and I get 40MB/s.
Same. I get a STEADY 28-29 MB/s on my stock 120gb slim. I havent updated the drive yet.

I get about the same, 28-29MB/s using a crossover cable between the PS3 and PC. I use BlackboxFTP and FlashXP

bingo, thanks from reading this thread i decided to change my cable from standard to crossover, now it hovers from 15mb to 80mb (cuteftp so bigger MBs i think) it was hovering from 129.87kpbs to 230mpbs but in transfer rate was a gig every 3 mins with crossover cable its now 1 gig a min woo
